The purpose of this paper is to examine the patterns of the
economic development in East Asia and discuss their
implications for further continuation of this development from
this perspective. The next section will provide a brief overview
of the demonstrated patterns of the East Asian economic
development, while the subsequent section will discuss the
impact of this development on the world economy as well as on
the Asia-Pacific region. The final section will explore a major
regional policy issue raised in the previous discussions.
