This paper aims to assess the nature and extent of trade
restriction measures undertaken by the US and their effects on
Korean exports to the US during the 1980s.
This paper will begin with a brief description of the
development of trade between Korea and the US. This will be
followed by the review of protectionist elements embeddied in
the current US trade laws. Then an attempt will be made to
examine the pattern of the US NTBs and their effects on
Korean exports. Finally, policy implications for Korea will be
considered in a concluding section.
