요약 This paper is intended to provide an overview of the Korean
economy in the year 2000 from a global perspective and to
analyze the path that leads to it. The purpose will be to
establish a general sense of where the Koran economy is
heading and to anticipate major external issues and to suggest
appropriate policy responses.

In the second section, we will review the present status of
korea in the world economy, In the third section, we use the
earlier analysis to define the nature of the path leading to the
year 2000 and suggest some dimensions of the Korean economy
in 2000. In the Fourth section, we identify key issues which are
bound to arise along the projected path to the year 2000 and
outline appropriate policy responses. In the last section, we
conclude by noting some of the major implications of the earlier
discussions for international cooperation.
